do it: be a queen

do it

I've been messing around with Photoshop all day today in anticipation of getting my new heat press for printing tshirts. When I originally came up with the Loyalty 2 Royalty brand concept, I had a lot of ideas revolving around playing cards- specifically the Kings and Queens (natch). The faces on playing cards are so absurd... and they all look grumpy. So I used a photo of myself and posterized, desaturated, cut and pasted until it was my own features on the Queen of Hearts card. Ha! I have too much time on my hands...

But I have fun... and that's all that really matters, right?

do it: spread some love

do it

Today was a perfect Spring day! This afternoon I headed down to the East Village to be interviewed for a short documentary that I was asked to be in. After recapping the greatest love story of my life (so far) for the camera, I put on my odlr sunnies and walked up towards Union Square. I stopped for an iced tea at Think, perused the Greenmarket at Union Square, hit up the City Quilter for some Alice in Wonderland-esque fabrics (clocks, crowns, teacups...), and walked up to the 28th Street subway station. It's days like this, meandering around the city and taking it all in, that reaffirm my feeling of belonging here. I got down to the train platform and pulled out the heart post-its that I bought yesterday (with the intention of doing exactly this):

I posted one when I got off the train too...

do it: Blossom Ball 2011

do it

A friend of mine works with the Endometriosis Foundation of America, and on Friday they're holding their annual gala charity event, the Blossom Ball. The event is being held in the beautiful New York Public Library with a performance by the grammy nominated Bebel Gilberto, an open bar, desserts and a DJ. For $90 you get to enjoy everything and you're helping out a very worthy organization. So enjoy this beautiful spring weather, the extra hour of sunlight, do a good deed and have an excuse to go dress shopping on your lunch break Wednesday. Are you coming?

I never realized what a necessary outlet sewing was for me until my sewing machine broke. I had been without my machine for months, without the funds to get it repaired, and my mum ordered me a brand new one and had it shipped to my office! Thanks mum!!

One of my favorite etsy sellers, Aki of Oktak, is packing up her NYC apartment to move, and was giving away fabric last week to lighten her load. I jumped at the offer, and she very generously packed a huge bag stuffed with tons of great fabrics that I picked up at her building.

After a busy week of concerts and engagements, I finally set up my new machine and gave it a test drive. I've had a pattern for a really cute cat bed from One Yard Wonders that I've been wanting to make. It's shaped like a box, and my kitty Lily loves boxes...

The pattern was super easy to follow, and after an hour of sewing and stuffing, my kitties had a new bed. The moment I put it on the floor, they checked it out...

Lily wasted no time getting cozy...

love it: transformations

I have once again reinvented my look... this time out of necessity. The constant bleaching of my hair for two months completely destroyed it. The past few weeks my hair has been breaking off at about 2 inches, leaving spikes and rough ends that were getting too difficult to hide.

After joking with my coworkers all week about looking like David Bowie and Kate Gosselin, I finally got an appointment with Marissa at Hair Metal. I begged her to make the spikes look even a little bit on purpose, and she did an awesome job! It's half Bieber and half monchichi, and I'm totally in love with it.

As a result of my constant hair-changing, I can hardly keep profile pictures across Twitter, Foursquare, GChat and Facebook current... but it's kinda fun being a chameleon. Here's the last nine months:
