do it: dc in a day

do it

After seeing Green Lantern Friday night (fail), we were discussing what we could do Saturday. We decided to get up early and head to D.C. for the day, since I had never been and it was looking like great weather for a little road trip. The alarm went off at 6am, and after much grumbling on my part, we were on the road by 7:30. Arriving in D.C. around noon, we parked the car and walked to the Air & Space museum, passing the Smithsonian Castle on the way.

The museum was on the top of my list of D.C. attractions, and it didn't disappoint. So much to see and do! We paid the $8 to do the flight simulator, doing barrel rolls and gunning down imaginary flying targets.

After a few hours at the museum, we walked over to the Washington Monument and took some photos.

The reflecting pool was drained, which was kind of a bummer. Would have been cool to see.

From there we walked down to the White House for a peek. All in all, was a fun little romp through Washington. Looking forward to a more extensive visit sometime.

do it: great adventure(s)

I spent the other day hangin with these guys...

...and getting my rollercoaster on, of course. Was a very hot day for Six Flags, but despite the sunburn, we had a blast. I've been wanting to get out to Great Adventure for ages!

I had to take a pic of the Batmobile... since I've been riding around in Brooklyn's version of it for months now...

Yay for roadtrips and adventures!

When my hair started falling out due to my over-zelous bleaching, Marissa at Hair Metal saved the day. She has since cut my hair several times, and I trust her implicitly with my extra-short do. When I called the other day to make another appointment and heard that she had moved to another salon, I had a moment of panic. I've had some bad haircuts. And although I love Hair Metal, I didn't want to trust someone new... short hair is easy to jack up and hard to fix once it's messed up. Luckily, I found out she had moved to the High Horse Salon, which is near Hair Metal in Williamsburg.

The place has a relaxed vibe with quiet folk and country music, a tiny spiral staircase to a downstairs shampoo room, and most importantly- Marissa! I would absolutelly recommend her for a cut or color. She's so worth the trip on the L and the short romp from the Bedford subway station to Havemayer and Hope.

I'm feeling so loved today! It started with cupcakes from Butter Lane at midnight to ring in my 28th. In the morning I put on my rockin patent red pumps and headed to the office. I got lots of special deliveries:

Allie had these babies delivered to the office- Sugar Sweet Sunshine!! My fave cupcakes in New York City. Yum! We have a serious evening planned, including fab dinner, a Hugo show, and some after-partying. Big thank you's and kisses to everyone who's making my day (and week!) extra special. Cheers to 28 being the best year yet!

It's no secret I'm a huge Red Sox fan. Weathering baseball season behind enemy lines can be trying at times... so I was amped when my best friend and I scored tickets to the first 2 games at Fenway Park! (Against the Yankees Evil Empire, no less).

We spent the weekend in Boston and reveled in the first win for the Sox, checked out the new players, and soaked in the company of our fellow fans. Such a good time!!
