love it: being one of a kind

love it

One piece of fashion advice I can actually credit my younger brother with is teaching me that limited = awesome. Having and wearing things that few people have, or better yet- no one has- is how he defines his style. I tend to incorporate this philosophy into my own personal style quite a bit, coveting shoes, accessories and statement pieces that are different and stand out. That said, I've been browsing for colorful, fun hi-tops for the summer, and was amped when I found the customizable double-upper hi-tops on converse.com. There are 20 different aspects of the shoe that you can pick patterns and colors for, and even add a monogram to make them exclusively yours. I had way too much fun with this. And $70 seems totally reasonable to me to get shoes that even have the racing stripes, stitching and eyelets customized to your liking. I'm obsessed with these shoes!

love it: uptown girls

Allie and I went to the Met yesterday to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit. When we got there, though, there was an enormous line and a super long wait to get into the McQueen exhibit. We decided to come back another day and enjoy the afternoon outdoors instead.

We made a pitstop at the Cake & Shake cart outside of the museum to get vanilla milkshakes and split a cupcake before we headed for Central Park.

The weather was finally agreeable, and we spent hours walking around the park... sniffing lilacs, climbing castle steps, and chatting with a very friendly duck.

After the park we shopped around the UES and stopped into La Maison Du Chocolat for macarons. Yum! Was such a fun girls afternoon.

love it: beer and cookies

love it

When I heard from The Skint that The Double Windsor was doing a beer and Girl Scout cookie tasting, I was totally in. I headed down to Brooklyn with my bestie in tow, and a flight of brews and a stack of cookies later, I was pretty satisfied. Dinner of champs if I've ever had one.

Not terrible pairings, although we mixed and matched and made our own. I'm not a fan of hoppy IPAs, but the rest were good stuff. The Double Windsor is a cute little place with an eclectic menu, an interesting selection of beers on tap, and a young crowd. Lessons: grab a brew next time you're pounding a box of do-si-do's, and hit up the Double Windsor next time you're in the Slope.

love it: my mum calls me alice

Two obsessions of mine: Alice in Wonderland and New York City. I think the broadway poster for Wonderland was brilliantly designed, and although I haven't seen the show yet, I told my mum that I would love a poster print for my apartment. She did one better (WAY better!) and had a friend rework the design with my blog name! Isn't she the best?! I can't wait to get it framed and add it to my Wonderland-themed bedroom. Thanks mama!

love it: docs

I've wanted white Doc Martens for aaages... and finally bought 'em with my birthday moola from my fam. Looove! I have since replaced the laces with wide black organza ribbon from M&J Trimming... super cute. I've been rocking them all over the city with bright-colored tights... letting my inner punk rocker out. :)
